the week of April 30 to May 4 from 3:45 to 5:30pm.
Youth for Asian Theater is a San Francisco-based teen theater company that promotes pride in Asian heritage and awareness of youth issues through theater. Youth for Asian Theater, more fondly known as YFAT, offers young people the opportunity to speak their minds about Asian American and youth issues. Whether it is about discrimination, social discomfort, identity issues, cultural pride, traditional values, or self-discovery, our organization encourages youth to express their minds through acting, playwrighting, and directing. YFAT works to empower students to create a voice for themselves and others.
Youth for Asian Theater is completely run and administered by San Francisco Bay Area students who write, direct, and perform original works.
Our purpose is to stimulate youth leadership in the community by giving students the chance to interact in an environment independent from that of an adult-dominant world. It allows students to implement teamwork and progress, two aspects that are crucial in their futures. The experience and skills gained in YFAT will serve as valuable tools for young people, allowing them to thrive to their fullest potential.
While YFAT focuses on the issues surrounding teens and their experiences with the Asian American community, YFAT accepts all youth, regardless of ethnicity, and encourages youth to express themselves through theater.
